Hi everyone!! JaNette here from Merri Poppins!!!! Thanks for having me on the EYMM Tour 🙂 It’s not very often I get to make something for my fellas so I jumped at the chance to sew up something for Father’s Day! I picked Parker’s Vintage T-Shirt from EYMM. As some of you are aware…I have a ton of patterns. I have several EYMM patterns but haven’t sewn them…yet. So this was the first time sewing up something from this designer. I have to admit, I wish I had tried this as my introduction to sewing knits. THIS WAS PERFECT!! Everything went together beautifully!!! I don’t sew knits very often because with wovens…its just well…woven. I don’t have to guess if I’m picking the right stretch, etc. With these I picked 2 heavier knits and 1 soft light weight. This is a uni-sex pattern which is also awesome! I didn’t sew the girls a shirt this time but I will later.
Patrick opted for pocket, which is so typical of him. I had to go up a size for both of the boys because they measured in between sizes. I could have *almost* got away with using just the men’s pattern for all of them. With the swimming season upon us, I think Ashton will be in the men’s xxs or xs before summer is out. Patrick is right there at the end of the sizes too but maybe next year he will be out of the boys. I’m so glad they have such a large size range!!! James’s shirt is super soft, thin, light weight knit (I’m not sure of the name for it) and was a little harder to handle when I was sewing.
And speaking of “harder to handle”…why is it so hard for teenage boys to just smile? Thank goodness Patrick still has a happy go lucky attitude about most things.
We had to pull out some serious goofiness to get these grins from Ashton!! They all seem to love the fit. Everyone says they will wear them again which makes me happy. Patrick took his off after taking pictures and saved it for school the next day.
Since this IS about Father’s Day, I do have to say that we are so lucky to have this fella in our lives. He’s a hard working dad and husband. One that truely loves his kiddos even though they make him crazy. But that’s what kids do I suppose 😉 He’s great at giving great big bear hugs and cooking on the grill. Oh he’s also the cannon ball king. We can’t wait to spend Sunday together doing what he does best……LOVING US!!!
Thanks for being such a great Dad to the 4 of them…we love you to pieces!!
Until next time,
